Understanding Microaggressions Workshop

Understanding Microaggressions Workshops
£65.00

What is it?

This workshop is an opportunity to learn about, explore and better understand what microaggressions are and how they can show up for people.

Microaggressions are the most pervasive from of discrimination. Microaggressions are often subtle and missed by people who do not share the identity of the person the microaggression is aimed at.

It is very common, for people who experience microaggressions to be further harmed by leaders and HR teams when they complain about their experience, as these individuals lack the knowledge and understanding of what microaggressions are, and how to support people who experience them.

What does it cover?

  • A clear understanding of what microaggressions are and how they are constructed

  • Confronting stereotypes and prejudice which lead to microaggressions

  • Practical exploration of examples of microaggressions

  • Gaslighting and how to avoid gaslighting people who raise concerns

  • Q&A

How is it delivered?

  • It is delivered online

  • We use interactive tools to ensure everyone is engaged

  • We structure the session to ensure those who are neurodiverse can engage fully and be supported

  • Delivered by expert facilitators so we can respond to concerns and questions and correct misconceptions.

  • There are opportunities for group discussion and personal reflection

What does it solve?

  • It makes sure people know what microaggression are and how to avoid delivering them.

  • Online courses go out of date quickly which can mean our people don’t have the knowledge and understanding we intended them to have.

  • Online courses are flexible but how do we know our people have engaged with them?

  • In person delivery is very expensive and can present us with challenges in terms of space and flexibility for people to attend.

What doesn’t it do?

  • It won’t guarantee people will never experience a microaggression again

  • It doesn’t go into depth about topics such as racism, homophobia and ableism.
